After a round of edits, and the occasional pause to tingle, In Deep Waters 2: Cruising the Strip has returned to the tender mercies of the editor where it will go on its way into the production process at Bold Strokes Books. This two-part project has been a great deal of fun, and I’m going to miss those morning e-mails from Radclyffe.
One of the joys I didn’t anticipate when we first discussed the project was the opportunity to revisit characters from earlier novels. Doing so does present a challenge: these volumes are erotica and most of my previous work is on the softer, more sensual side, and without the accessories one might expect to see, um, deployed in an erotica anthology. So I had to take some care to up the voltage, so to speak, without adding anything that a reader didn’t see in the original novel.
Choosing Brandy and Tess from All the Wrong Places for “Lucky 7” was a natural, and it gave me a chance to close the book on the issues of commitment raised in “Cruising Solo” from In Deep Waters 1. Other couples appearing are Liddy and Marian from One Degree of Separation and Carolyn and Alison from Paperback Romance.
When the release of IDW2 grows closer I’ll explain why I chose those stories. IDW2 is slated for release from Bold Strokes Books in May.
