With apologies to Edmund White for butchering his opening to Hotel de Dream, I had a great deal of fun going a different direction from his opening line.
The festival will feature at least 5 current and prominent GLBT literary arts figures, with an opening reception with the artists, readings, book signings, discussion panels, presentations, workshops, exhibits and social functions.
The Stonewall Library & Archives is currently relocating to its new digs and is becoming an official part of the Broward County library system. As part of their capital campaign and “coming out” into the larger Fort Lauderdale community, they have a short video that answers the question “What is a Gay Library? Next year I’ll be returning to the Archives as part of GALLA (the Gay and Lesbian Literary Arts Festival). It’s an honor to be asked to participate in this first ever event in Florida. The Stonewall Library and Archives is joining with ArtServe and other community groups to present this event, patterned after the Miami Book Festival. As I know more information I’ll certainly be sharing it.
