First thing first. Awards Gala attire chosen. Is that a purple velvet jumpsuit? Yes. Are those my beloved gold boots? Yes. Am I serious? Yes. VEGAS BABY!
Now that the all-important attire topic is out of the way, I was super excited to hear that the class I proposed to the Golden Crown Literary Society for GCLS2018 had been accepted. I don’t have date and time yet, but it’ll be somewhere between July 4 and July 8.
The session will be about an hour and my hope is that everyone leaves with a special piece of paper that will be their talisman, touchstone, shield, whatever they want to call it, against the negativity that we authors feed ourselves with every time we visit social media. I know it’s not just me. This will be a writer self-care event.
Chase Your Own Success
Do you ever feel as if you’re not doing the writing life right? Everyone else seems to have more or better. Sales, reviews, awards, nods from VIPs, money, expertise, word counts, buzz, fans, acclaim, on and on.
Social media amplifies the message: success is something other people are having all around you. Should you change your vision? How can you replicate their success for yourself?
It’s time to take a step back. This workshop will help you define success in your own terms and give you tools to silence the negative perceptions that sap your creativity. Chase your own success – not someone else’s.
Instructor: Karin Kallmaker, who plans to use all her Mom Voices
I’m thrilled that my favorite conference event is turning Las Vegas into a lesbian haven. If you haven’t heard of GCLS, or you were thinking of attending, please let me encourage you to do so! Here’s everything you need to know.
I look forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones over the course of the conference! And this year I do not plan to catch a cold. There will be the sound of women laughing together. The. Best. Sound. There. Is.
