I’m pleased this year to be presenting a special session called Book Soup at GCLS in Orlando. I’m going to be milking the food metaphor to the last drop. No bread will be left unbuttered.
The session description is:
Book Soup: Allez cuisine!
From mise en place to surprise ingredients, happy accidents and recipe substitutions, writing is a continual test kitchen where the final dishes go to the ultimate judges. Join Karin Kallmaker for a metaphor-infused look at balancing a writer’s signature flavors to the taste buds of the readers.
The session is currently scheduled for Friday morning, June 4, somewhere between second breakfast and elevenses.
What is GCLS you ask? The only membership organization that is exclusively devoted to the authors and readers of lesbian fiction. Their annual conference is a festival of book love, and culminates in the annual Goldies, recognizing multiple categories of lesbian books. Because it’s in Orlando, it’s also near all that Mouse-based fun, plus this year Girls at Gay Days isn’t far away and runs over the same weekend. There will be bookalicious bibliophiles everywhere. This is my sixth conference and it’s been a pleasure every time.
Anyone attending and wanting a signed book from me can purchase one on site from Bella Distribution, but you will also be able to pre-order your convention books to make sure they’re waiting for you on arrival. That “shipping” option will be available on pre-orders starting May 1. Details will be available on the Bella web site.
