Gung Hay Fat Choy!

Karin Kallmaker LIFE + STYLE

chinese zodiac year of rat

It’s my year, at last! And the good news is that the Year of the Rat is benign and generous to everyone. Ships come in, regardless of storms, seeds take root with little water or sun, and administrations change, finally.

Okay, so the Oxen among us get a little bit tense during the Year of the Rat because no one is planning ahead, while half-conceived projects, much to their consternation, succeed. It’s hard for them to bide their time, but next year, when the Ox arrives, they will make us happy-go-lucky types pay with burdens and hard work and earning what we have for once in our carefree Rat lives. After the ecstasy, there’s always the laundry.

So, fellow Rats, let’s party while we can. Gung hay fat choy! “May you become prosperous!”
